Funny story on this one... the mark was originally designed by the in house adidas design team for the 2017 NBA All Star game that was supposed to be in Charlotte, NC. Due to unforseen circumstances the game was moved to New Orleans, and the mark was effectively killed.
THIS IS WHERE THINGS GET WEIRD...
In 2019, Nike unveiled the uniforms for the 2019 Rising Stars game that takes place during All Star weekend, located in Charlotte. To our suprise the uniforms prominently feature the mark we designed for the 2017 game.
Apparently the NBA kept the IP rights to everything we worked on for them while we were under contract and that is how it ended up eventually coming to light!
