adidas BCF x Colossal Media – “Hit This Ground Running”
Creative Direction

adidas was looking for a way to bring the PureBOOST DPR, a shoe designed specifically for street running, straight to city streets in a way that felt genuine and organic. Colossal wanted to create a platform for local, emerging artists.

The plan: create a massive outdoor art gallery in Bushwick, with adidas and Colossal working together as curators.

Colossal and adidas’ Brooklyn Creator Farm put their powerhouse creative teams together to hand-select talent from their extended networks. They were drawn to eleven artists whose fresh voices and diverse styles would capture the energy of the streets.

Each artist was asked to focus on the feeling of taking on the unknown — a much-needed attitude for an urban runner. Colossal recreated the artists’ unique takes on the creative brief on ten large walls throughout Bushwick, selected by adidas’ media team at Posterscope USA, and installing a body of work that reflected and celebrated the unpredictability of the sport.

Without traditional branding and slick photography, the murals felt at home within the neighborhood’s tapestry of street art. This aligned the adidas brand with Bushwick’s thriving creative community. One artist was even asked to exhibit his work inside of the venue that his art was painted on — a win that speaks to the success of the community-minded campaign.
